The Carlos Moro Foundation at Matarromera has awarded the Beca Emina Talento scholarship to the students from the Escuela Superior de Diseño or Higher Technical College (ESI) in Valladolid who created the winning design for a roundabout in Medina del Campo with their AXIS project. The students’ names are Elena Mestre, María Sánchez and Beatriz Pérez.
The AXIS project aims to reflect Emina values (wine, technology, sustainability, art and culture) through an urban design concept which seeks to mark the beginning and the end of the story of a wine, from harvesting in the fields to the consumption of the end product.
Roberto Sanz, manager of the Carlos Moro Foundation at Matarromera and director of communication and strategy for Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, delivered a cheque for €1000 this afternoon as part of an event that was organised by the Higher College of Design and held at the Valladolid Chamber of Commerce with the aim of celebrating World Design Day.
The City Council of Medina del Campo is a strong supporter of the positioning of this particular location as a winemaking reference within the region through the building of a roundabout based around themes which reflect the world of wine. The Emina wine brand made the most of this occasion to highlight the talent of the young ESI students that presented the winemaking group with different design proposals for the roundabout.
Roberto Sanz highlighted the idea that “the world of wine should contribute towards strengthening the talent of our Autonomous Community” and that “this perfect pairing of wine and talent can help to modernise an industry which, despite being so traditional in nature, is making huge leaps forward. Emina wishes to continue to lead the way in this sense and hopes that the residents of Medina del Campo will enjoy these concepts when accessing their high-speed station”.
Carlos Moro Foundation at Matarromera
The Carlos Moro Foundation at Matarromera was launched in 2012 with the aim of promoting, performing and managing different activities and programmes associated with the personal, social, cultural and human development of people.
The organisation’s strong and clearly-defined social conscience is defined by a series of specific aims and objectives which can be summed up as follows: support and assistance for the most disadvantaged groups, emphasis on the principles of sustainability and the environment, promotion and development of research projects to improve nutrition, health, culture and the environment in addition to the upbringing and wellbeing of people, plus cooperation with, and support for, national and international organisations that work for the benefit of humanity.
Emina Wineries
Emina has two wineries: Emina Ribera del Duero, which is located in Valbuena de Duero, and Emina Rueda, located in Medina del Campo. Through these wineries, the company is able to produce a wide range of wine types: whites, barrel-fermented whites, sparkling wines and different types of red wine. The Emina line is the most contemporary of all those that are owned by Bodegas Familiares Matarromera: a company which is led by founder and president Carlos Moro. The close connection between this wine brand and art and culture has been present since the founding of its ever first building in 2005: the Emina Wine Bodega-Museum.
