Emina Ribera has added a further two wine tourism activities to its broad and diverse array of options: a cocktail workshop and a Wine Escape. Visitors taking part in these activities can discover the world of wine in a unique and enjoyable way while being a part of new wine tourism trends that are changing the traditional culture of creating wine.
The Bodega Emina Ribera winery, founded in 2005 in the Valladolid region of Valbuena del Duero and, more specifically, within the Golden Mile of the Ribera del Duero, is blessed with outstanding locations which have witnessed the emergence of wines that make this Designation of Origin so very worthy of the prestige that it garners. The Bodega Emina Ribera winery is the current headquarters of Bodegas Familiares Matarromera.
The first of the new and inviting proposals is the Emina Wine Escape which is dedicated to wine and aimed at a general audience. Participants will discover all of the secrets of this Valladolid winemaking company in an accessible and entertaining manner, including a visit to the Variety Garden and a tasting of the Emina Rosado, Emina Pasión and Emina Crianza wines as a perfect finishing touch.
The activity is based on a scenario in which staff from the winery’s research, development and innovation department have been attacked by foreign spies and require the help of the players in order to escape. The reward will be a journey through art, history and the culture of wine. This game will take place on the first Saturday of each month at eleven in the morning and will last for approximately one hour and forty minutes.
The second activity to be included in Bodega Emina’s updated wine tourism catalogue is a Cocktail Workshop which is suitable for all audiences due to the fact that its main ingredient is non-alcoholic wine. With the Win range, visitors can enjoy the most exquisite wine without consuming a drop of alcohol. In attending the workshop, visitors will learn how to combine this ingredient with others to create the best summer cocktails. Furthermore, this proposal, which is strongly backed by the winemaking company, instructs visitors on how to taste non-alcoholic wine and to gain the maximum enjoyment from its flavours and aromas. This particular product is created from wines which are subjected to a molecular deconstruction process using an innovative method developed by the research, development and innovation department at Bodegas Familiares Matarromera, leading to the construction of a Dealcoholisation Plant at Valbuena de Duero, in the immediate vicinity of the Bodega Emina Ribera winery.
The visit includes the tasting of three non-alcoholic Win wines and the confection of cocktails based on these same wines. Visitors will also receive an explanatory guide outlining how they can recreate the cocktails demonstrated at the workshop at home. These cocktails include the Win Mojito, Pisco Sour and La Espadaña Summer Cocktail.
As well as these new additions, the wine tourism options for visitors to Bodega Emina Ribera. Visitors to the latter, which is located outside the winery, can observe the different varieties of Spanish and international grapes up close. Different characters are used to help visitors to discover the reason that grapes are cultivated in the Ribera del Duero region, the importance of this river in the winemaking culture of Castile and León and the enormous influence that the Santa María de Valbuena Monastery has had on the winemaking process. All of these concepts are united by a common theme: the history of wine.
During their visit to Bodega Emina Ribera, visitors may choose to stay at the Hotel Rural Emina in Valbuena de Duero. This hotel was opened in 2010, completing the portfolio of wine tourism options offered by Bodegas Familiares Matarromera in the Ribera del Duero together with the Matarromera, Rento and Emina Ribera wineries and the La Espadaña de San Bernardo Restaurant, located next to the Bodega Emina Ribera winery.
